Just a few more days until we take off for Ocean Springs Mississippi.The website listed in the forum description is the organization the team is station to help out - Christus Victor Disaster Relief.
Your GLC Team Katrina is:
Marcia Bodin, Peter & Christoffer Young, Tom & Elisabeth Pfaff, Joanne Pirret, Doug & Leena Prindle (and no li'l Ellie isn't going - she's staying with grandparents for the week!)
Most of the team is hoping to do house recovery & rebuilding. We don't know until we get there what we will be assigned whether it is a house, food, other disaster assistance, or another work crew. We trust that God will use us where our help is needed the most.
Thank you to everyone who made donations towards this trip (we are still waiting to hear from PEMCO for possible matching).
The cost per person is approx. $750 per person for travel and registration costs.
Through God's grace we received the cost of registration per person ($215) through GLC memorial funds, $940 general donations toward team travel, and $645 donations toward material/supplies. The material s money will be donated directly in the community of Ocean Springs to help boost their economy as well as contribute supplies for rebuilding and renewal.
We are all VERY excited!

* For the victims of Hurricane Katrina - those affected directly and indirectly - for comfort and renewal.
* For the relief workers and volunteers - for their health and strength.
* For those who are traveling to relieve those who have been serving faithfully.
* Safe travels and open hearts and minds for our team.
* that our team is not only helping, but learning from and sharing God's love & promise with every person we meet.
* Strength for us northwestern-ers to endure hot, humid weather and biting bugs!
